Pest Detector 4.1 Removal – How To Get Rid Of Pest Detector

Pest Detector 4.1

Pest Detector 4.1 is a rogue antivirus program that has been designed to steal your personal information and con you into buying a fake upgrade to the virus. Although this program may look real, the fact is that it’s nothing more than a fake which shows you fake results in order to try and scare you into buying the full version. What makes this particular virus extremely annoying is the fact that it will place a large number of hidden infections onto your system as well. These hidden infections will log your personal data and steal the likes of your passwords, emails and even your banking information. You need to get rid of this virus before it causes any serious damage to your computer….

What Is The Pest Detector 4.1 Virus?

Pest Detector 4.1 is a program that tries to pass itself as an antivirus tool, but is actually just a fraud. The virus does nothing to help your computer and will install itself onto your PC from the likes of Trojan Horse viruses, fake emails and infected downloads. Known specifically as a “rogue antivirus” tool, this basically will try and con you into buying a false upgrade to the infection by showing you a series of fake virus results. On top of that, the program will also block vital Windows features, including various programs and the Task Manager, which can make it quite difficult to remove.

Please note that you should not trust or buy this software. It’s nothing less than a scam, which is continually trying to steal your personal details & make you buy the “full version” of the program (which will actually do nothing to help your system). If you want to get rid of this virus, you need to follow the steps below:

How To Remove Peak Protection 2010 From Your PC

Step 1 – Download & Install XoftSpySE

XoftSpy SE

XoftSpySE is a powerful spyware & malware removal tool which you can download here. You need to install it on your PC and then let it scan your system. If you don’t have access to the Internet (because Pest Detector 4.1 blocked it) then you should download this tool on another PC and then transfer the installation file via CD or USB pen.

Using this tool is very simple. You need to select the type of scan you want to perform and then press “Scan” to get the tool to do the task. This will send XoftSpy through your system and it will identify all the infected files, removing them for you. This automated tool is the best way to remove the infection because it gets 95% of it.

Step 2 – Clean Out The Registry

XoftSpy is very effective at removing the actual infection from your PC, it does not finish the job properly… and ends up leaving a series of settings on your PC. These are kept in the ‘registry’ database and can actually allow the infection back onto your PC. In order to fully protect yourself, it is recommended that you download a registry cleaner and then use it to remove any of the infected ‘Pest Detector 4.1′ registry keys that can still cause problems. This tool is automated and is very easy to use.

What This Removal Process Does:

Kills Processes

  • antispy.exe
  • defender.exe
  • tmp.exe
  • exe.exe

You should open up the “Task Manager” by clicking CTRL + ALT + DEL and then click on the “Processes” tab. This will then display a list of running processes, where you should then be able to find the listed files above. Click on each one and then click on the “End Process” button to stop the program from running. You can see an example of how that works below:

Removes Directories

  • %UserProfile%\Application Data\PAV\
  • %UserProfile%\Application Data\antispy.exe
  • %UserProfile%\Application Data\defender.exe
  • %UserProfile%\Application Data\tmp.exe
  • %UserProfile%\Application Data\exe.exe

These directories are where Pest Detector 4.1 will install itself on your PC. In order to ensure that this virus has been removes from your system in its entirety, you need to remove these directories from your computer. To do this, you need to open up “My Computer” and then locate the directories in question. After you’ve found one, remove it by pressing SHIFT + DELETE on your keyboard (this permanently removes it instead of sending it to your recycle bin).
